Calling All Volunteers! 👟 Running Is Elementary 2026
Dear Stratford Landing Families,
We are excited to continue the beloved tradition of joining our fellow West Potomac Pyramid schools for the annual Running Is Elementary Track and Field program! This program brings our elementary students together to learn drills and skills guided by student-athletes from the West Potomac High School Track Team. Additional program details below- including a link for a shirt exchange for the upcoming season
We cannot open registration for practices until we have volunteers lined up!
No track experience? No problem! Volunteers simply supervise the kids while the WPHS athletes lead the drills. You may also be asked to help with simple tasks like timing or recording some basic data. Passing the Torch- Become a SLES Coordinator!
We are looking for a few parents interested in taking over as coordinators for next season. While Francis will still be at SLES, Rebecca’s youngest is moving up to Middle School, so we are looking for new leaders to step in.
We would love for newcomers to join us this season to learn the ins and outs.

- No track experience necessary! The role is primarily administrative. It is a wonderful, fun niche for community involvement. If you’re willing to learn more, please reach out for additional information ASAP!
Program Details
Practices will be held on Wednesdays from April 8 – April 29.
- Grades 1-6: 4:00 PM – 5:00 PM
- Kindergarten: 4:00 PM – 4:30 PM
Important: The number of students we can enroll is directly dependent on the number of volunteers available. Specifically, our Kindergarten group requires a higher ratio of parent volunteers to ensure everyone stays safe and on track.
Program Costs
- $5.00 for participants who already have a team shirt.
- $26.00 for students who need a new team shirt.
Meet Dates
The program culminates in two exciting meets at West Potomac High School:
- Grades K-2: Wednesday, May 6th
- Grades 3-6: Monday, May 11
