Clubs

Fall 2026 after-school clubs are listed below by the day they meet. Each club is run by its own provider or instructor — click Register for full details and to sign up. Spaces are limited.

Mondays

Chess Club with Mr. Shupe and MVP Chess

  • Grades: K-6th
  • Dates: Sept 28–Nov 30 (no sessions on Oct 12 and Nov 2)
  • Meets: Mondays, 4:00–5:10pm
  • Cost: $160 for 8 sessions

MVP Chess brings fun, competitive, and educational chess to Stratford Landing Elementary School. Chess blends strategy, creativity, and critical thinking. Students learn to embrace challenges, grow from mistakes, and build confidence both on and off the board.


Tuesdays

Girls Chess Club with Mr. Shupe and MVP Chess

  • Meets: Tuesdays, 4:00–5:10pm
  • Cost: $160 for 8 sessions

Bloom Club: Secret Agent Academy with Ms. Katie Bloomquist

  • Grades: K-2
  • Dates: Sept 29–Nov 24 (no sessions on Nov 3)
  • Meets: Tuesdays, 4:00–5:10pm
  • Cost: $175 for 8 sessions

Secret Agent Academy is an 8-week after-school enrichment club where students take on weekly spy-themed missions involving codes, puzzles, teamwork, problem-solving, and hands-on challenges. While students are having fun becoming secret agents, they’ll also be strengthening important skills such as executive functioning, leadership, critical thinking, communication, flexibility, perseverance, and confidence. Each mission is designed to help students practice planning, working with others, thinking creatively, and solving problems in an exciting, engaging way. Agents will earn badges throughout the program and use the skills they’ve built to complete a final top-secret mission!

STEM Club with STEM exCEL – Introduction to Computers & Coding

  • Grades: 1-6th
  • Dates: Oct 6–Dec 1 (no sessions on Nov 3)
  • Meets: Tuesdays, 4:00–5:00pm
  • Cost: $195 for 8 sessions

Introduction to Computer Science teaches programming logic using scratch blocks, making it the perfect foundation course to learn coding. Students will build a 2D game in Scratch using a variety of statements for animating characters, creating collectables, and designing levels.


Wednesdays

Drama Club: “Mystery at Mount Vernon” with Ms. Roberta and the Alexandria Children’s Theatre

  • Grades: 4th-6th
  • Dates: Sept 30–Nov 18 (no sessions on Oct 21)
  • Meets: Wednesdays, 4:00–5:10pm
  • Cost: $185 for 7 sessions

Something important has been stolen from Mount Vernon and students interested in solving mysteries will work with Ms. Roberta to determine “whodunnit” – creating different characters, conversations and alibis, until the historic item has been found! Everyone from the docents to visitors and staff will be under the microscope as detectives make their rounds of interviews and deal with the press. Perhaps the Founding Father himself will make an appearance! The mystery will be solved at the final class in front of parents as witnesses. This class is best for students with some acting experience and an interest in performing. There will be some simple memorization required at home. Pokémon Club with TCG Pokémon Player Mr. Seth

  • Grades: 2nd-6th
  • Dates: Sept 30–Dec 9 (no sessions on Oct 21, Nov 25, and Dec 2)
  • Meets: Wednesdays, 4:00–5:10pm
  • Cost: $160 for 8 sessions

Discover the ultimate strategy adventure by joining the SLES Pokémon Club, where students will master the exciting skills needed to play the Pokémon Trading Card Game! Students will build their own awesome deck and battle friends in a fun, friendly environment while making new trading partners.


Thursdays

Garden Club with Ms. Black

  • Grades: K-6th
  • Dates: Oct 1–Nov 12
  • Meets: Thursdays, 4:00–5:10pm
  • Cost: $130 for 7 sessions

Get your hands dirty and grow something amazing by joining the SLES Garden Club! Students will plant seeds, watch them sprout, and discover the magic of nature firsthand! Students will taste the delicious rewards of their hard work by harvesting fresh vegetables, sweet fruits, and colorful flowers that they helped nurture from the ground up. Each week will focus on a different topic and always have room for student led curiosity!

Dungeons and Dragons Club with Dungeon Master Emma

  • Grades: 4th-6th
  • Dates: Oct 1–Dec 10 (no sessions on Nov 26)
  • Meets: Thursdays, 4:00–5:10pm
  • Cost: $200 for 10 sessions

Join Dungeon Master Emma for adventure, excitement and strategy! Emma will help your student create a character with a backstory and skills. The group of students will work together as a team every week to defeat evil wizards, rescue gnomes or explore caves of chaos. Every week’s journey will build on the previous week..so you won’t want to miss an adventure!


Fridays

STEM Club with STEM exCEL – Robotics

  • Grades: 1st-6th
  • Dates: Oct 9–Dec 11 (no sessions on Oct 30 and Nov 27)
  • Meets: Fridays, 4:00–5:00pm
  • Cost: $195 for 8 sessions

STEM exCEL Robotics introduces students to robotics design and programming using Lego Robotics. The course emphasizes engineering concepts and advanced sensor programming, preparing students for robotics competitions like First Lego League.
