Rock N Run

“Rock ‘N’ Run” is a Stratford Landing Elementary tradition that brings the community together, gets kids excited for the year, and creates a substantial baseline to meet financial needs for school-wide events. We are especially proud of how this event has grown, and how it enables us to support ALL students and families of Stratford Landing.

How does Rock ‘N’ Run work?

Students collect donations from parents, family, and friends to contribute to the school’s overall fundraising goal prior to Run Day and earn different levels of school-wide prizes to enjoy together. (It’s not based on how many laps they run.) All students receive a t-shirt (color coded by grade), head out to the field, and run or walk around the track as many times as they can, energized by our fabulous DJ. Parent volunteers place tick-marks with permanent markers on the back of students’ shirts to count their laps.

What do Rock ‘N’ Run funds support?

The PTA uses Rock ‘N’ Run funding to support our school community in a variety of ways. Here are some recent examples of what the PTA has funded:

• Ukuleles for music classrooms
• Student Oasis Room
• Discovery Garden
• Book club materials for every grade level
• Classroom “take a break” spaces
• Classroom startup funds for every classroom
• Clubs, including Chess, Lego, Piano, and Gardening
• Teacher and staff appreciation events
• Snacks, book fair credit, and field trip assistance for students who qualify for additional support
• Enriching experiences, including music mixing and under-the-sea assemblies
• Licensing rights for the “Willy Wonka – The Musical” performance

Prizes

Rock ‘N’ Run prizes and enrichment programs benefit the entire school and are awarded for the entire grade level — as fundraising milestones are reached, the whole school unlocks bigger prizes together. Each year’s prize goals are announced with the fall kickoff.

Become a Rock ‘N’ Run sponsor

Local businesses help make Rock ‘N’ Run possible, and sponsorship is one of the most direct ways to reach Stratford Landing families. Rock ‘N’ Run sponsorships run from $100 (Bronze) to $1,000 (Platinum), and benefits build as the levels go up — starting with your name or logo in the PTA newsletter and on our Facebook page, then adding a banner at the event (Silver), your logo on the event t-shirts worn by all students, faculty, and volunteers (Gold), and a corporate ad (Platinum). Year-round school partnerships ($3,000 and $5,000) are also available and include a Rock ‘N’ Run sponsorship.
