David Hodgkinson, SLPTA President

David Hodgkinson is currently serving as the President-Elect, and plans to move into the role of President, for the SLTPA.  David has a rising 5th Grader and a Rising 2nd Grader at SLES.  He has served in the U.S. Military for over 20 years on active duty and in the reserves.  He is a senior executive in the Federal Government serving across multiple Departments and agencies.  David looks forward to the coming year where we can come together as a community for the betterment of Stratford Landing.  Go Dolphins!

Amber Marchand, President-Elect

Hello! My name is Amber Marchand and I would be honored to serve as SLES PTA President-Elect for the 2021-2022 school year.

My husband, Sterling, and I have enjoyed raising our four children in this community for the past 5 years. We have a rising 4th grader (Foster), 2nd grader (Quinn), kindergartner (Ford), and preschooler (Milo). I’m a preschool teacher at Aldersgate Day School and my husband and I co-founded Be The Good Project, a grassroots 501(c)3 non-profit with a mission to help feed our neighbors who are experiencing hunger and food insecurity.

We love Stratford Landing and I would love to continue serving our community and its families through this role!

Rebecca Stites, SLPTA Treasurer

Greetings!  My name is Rebecca Stites and I am interested in fulfilling the SLES PTA Board position for Treasurer.  I’m the mother to two Stratford Landing Dolphins: Kyla is a rising 2nd grader and Landon is a rising 4th grader. Last fall I left my career of 15 years to pursue the joy of full-time parenthood.

Prior to that, I studied Biology at Virginia Tech and then landed my dream job at Smithsonian’s National Zoo. During my career I chaired two vital committees (The Safety Committee and the Animal Escape Preparedness Committee) and served on a national advisory group for felid conservation management in North American Zoos. These roles required a high level of organization, attention to detail, passion, diligent record keeping, strong time management skills, and thick skin!  I enjoyed the challenge and appreciated that these roles gave me the opportunity to have a positive impact within my immediate work community, as well as my profession’s community at large. I would love to put my new-found time and acquired skills to good use for the benefit of our children and the SLES Community!

Rima Fusisi, SLPTA Secretary

Hello! My name is Rima Fusisi. I have served on the board for one term as secretary and would love to continue on for a second term for the 2021-2022 school year. I have a rising 2nd grader and rising kindergartner. I work full time in Early Intervention in Washington, DC. A  fun fact about me is that I went to Stratford Landing for my elementary school years. I have enjoyed serving on the PTA board and being a voice for our children and families. I look forward to continuing on. Go Dolphins!

Nicole Chandler, SLPTA Vice President for Volunteers

This is Nicole’s second year on the board serving as VP Volunteers. The active and passionate community is the reason for Nicole to join the PTA, she is happy to contribute to the community in a positive and productive way. Nicole and her husband, Aaron, moved to the Fort Hunt area five years ago with the Navy. Their son’s Brandon is a rising 8th grader at Sandburg Middle School and William is a rising third grader both of them enjoy playing sports and playing with their friends. Nicole and her family enjoy the outdoors and playing sports while catching a professional game somewhere in the DC area.

Professionally, Nicole works as a natural light outdoor lifestyle photographer serving the greater DC/NOVA area.

Gretchen Kearney, Vice President, Communications

Thank you for considering me for the SLES PTA Communications VP for the 2021-2022 school year at Stratford Landing Elementary School.

My husband, Patrick, and I have lived in Stratford Landing since 2018. I have two sons at SLES. Zachary (10) is a fourth grader in Ms. Kruse’s class. AJ (8) is a third grader in Ms. Wegner’s class.

Professionally, I work for Baron & Budd, a boutique law firm in Washington DC as a paralegal and the office manager. Through the summer, I am working remotely. You’ll likely find me working poolside at Riverside Gardens while the boys are at swim practice. In the fall, I’ll be splitting my time working at home and in the office.

Prior to making a career pivot to the law, I worked in marketing and event planning. I’ve been responsible for marketing, membership and organizing events for several trade associations (National Restaurant Association, National Club Association, American Subcontractors Association (DC)), membership organizations (Mount Vernon Country Club) and social clubs (Rotary Club of Washington DC, Kiwanis Club of Washington). My undergraduate degree is in Communications, and I have an MBA in Marketing from George Washington University.

In my spare time, I like to read, cook, binge historical dramas with my husband, watercolor and garden. You’ll also see me walking our doberdoodle, Momo, around the neighborhood. Now that Zach and AJ are a little older, but while we have a few years remaining at SLES, I wanted to volunteer my time and talents to making the PTA and SLES the best for our students, parents, faculty and staff. That includes growing our PTA membership and ensuring communication vehicles are effective. Thank you for considering me for this position.
